Hasbro Studio Series Deluxe Lockdown

After my bad impression of AoE Lockdown, it only took them what, 4 years? to finally release another movie Lockdown. Unfortunately it's still a deluxe but fortunately it's miles better than the last one. So here's the gunfaced, hook toting, Lambobot mercenary, Lockdown.

Wei Jiang Robot Force Hound 2.0

I'm don't buy knockoffs normally unless it's something that trumps the official product. While i liked Hasbro's voyager Hound, it's not really screen accurate and the rubber head is kinda bad.
Then along came Wei Jiang, a chinese KO company that instead of releasing subpar KOs, they take the extra mile to improve on the original instead! They'll take already good figures, enlarge them, give them paint apps and sometimes sculpt new pieces for them for insanely cheap prices.
I love John Goodman Hound in Age of Extinction and i just can't resist buying this AWESOME looking toy!

Hasbro Transformers Age of Extinction Deluxe Strafe

So i watched TF4 AOE and i thought it was probably the best of the Bayformer movies. With actually likeable main character (Marky Mark), more focus of the robots, less crass humour, and less military gushing, it's pretty enjoyable. But while the dinobots were hyped so much, their actual appearance were pretty small, probably 10 minutes-ish. Though whenever they appeared, they rocked the screens. So i finally got out of my way to buy another addition to the movie dinobot cast, the blue 2 headed Strafe!

Strafe's blue just pops! With gradual silver to blue, the paint on him maybe the best one among the dinobots. I have no idea why they wanted a 2 headed pterodactyl, but i gotta admit it's pretty cool looking.

While he looks passable in his alt mode, bot mode is where Strafe shines. He certainly looks the best among the AOE dinobots.

Articulations are pretty similar with the rest of his dinobots, though i wish he had wrist swivels. That would have really made him perfect. But his wings, i just love it! It's simple yet effective articulations gives him so much posing options! I wish future winged transformers will look at Strafe's wings as reference.

 
He comes with a crossbow, which is passable...

... and 2 blades. All 3 can be stored on the figure.

You can also combine the weapons to make a pretty nice bow. Overall, he's great. If Hasbro made some minor adjustments, he'd pretty much be the best deluxe of the movie line. Pick him up!

Hasbro Transformers Age of Extinction Deluxe Lockdown

Lockdown was probably the most capable villain in the Bayformers movies. He was cool, intimidating and he got the job done. SO WHY IS HIS DELUXE SUCH SHITE?!?!? Sorry, sorry, i'm just bitter. I was probably looking forward to him besides Hound. So, imagine how dissapointed i was when Hasbro just churn out something like this...

Truth be told, his car mode is sexy, but look closer... no side windows. What's up with that?

Bot mode is where Lockdown makes me cry. He has all the details but he just looks so awkward proportion wise. His chest is too wide and legs too short. Besides that, he has his arms attached to the door panel, hollow chest, loose joints EVERYWHERE, and chest tabs that refuses to stay tabbed in no matter what.

Great head though.

Articulations are pretty standard

Best thing bout him is probably the gun, that's it.

He can wield it like a standard gun or do his headcannon mode from the movie. But this means he can't move his head in this mode.

Compared to the old Revenge of the Fallen Lockdown, i'll still pick him over AOE Lockdown everytime. I'm just too dissapointed with this guy, with nothing really going for him except the headcannon, his flaws heavily outweighs then pros. I say skip him and hope Hasbro will give us something better. All i can do now is hope someone, maybe Dr Wu, to make add-ons for him.

Hasbro Transformers Age of Extinction Voyager Hound

So the Dinobots were pretty nice, though the AOEs vehicle transformers left me unimpressed. That was until wave 2 came along. Wave 2's voyagers were the man-made Galvatron which were pretty meh, and Hound. What can i say bout Hound? Well how bout HE FREAKING ROCKS!!

In G1, Hound was a peace-loving, tree-hugging all around good guy that turned into a jeep, but since this is Bay's transformers, all that goes out the window. Here, Hound is a war vet, militaristic and gruff Autobot carrying enough firepower to  take on the Decepticon army himself, and it shows in his altmode, a medium tactical vehicle. It's rugged, bulky and honestly, reminds me more of Bulkhead than Hound.

Transformed, Hound certainly looks mean. With BEARD AND ARMS MADE OF AMMO, wide shoulders, puffed up chest and stocky proportions, Hound looks like he 's been through it all.

While recent transformers offered little to no accessories, Hound here is loaded with them. Sporting a minigun, 2 shotguns, 2 handguns, 2 tinier handguns and a combat knife, what else can you ask for? Best part, HE CAN CARRY THEM ALL! Honestly i'm just having too much fun posing him with all the weaponry.

But that's not all, all those sweet weapons can combine into a huge decepticon blasting, seriously overkill weapon of mass destruction. Just look at it, it's almost as tall as Hound himself.

Articulation wise, he's pretty good with swivel head, shoulders, arms, wrist, hips, knees and toes. He's able to keep any action pose you want him to. Just be aware he's a bit top heavy so you might need to balance him alittle. Scale wise, he's undersized standing next to the older deluxe, but i don't mind that 1 bit. I almost forgot to mention, the plastic on the weapons are made thinner than Hound himself, so you might see stress marks if you force the weapons too hard. The shotguns are the worst offenders because once you push their handles in, it's tough to pull them out. So what i suggest is to only push in the handle half way.

He's pretty much the gem of wave 2. I love how solid everything clicks into place, leaving nothing hanging like alot of the recent transformers. He's 1 of those transformers that i would suggest to hunt out for.

EDIT: I finally did the knuckle mod. Just slide the pieces downwards, there might be some glue so becareful with that. To store them at the back without the pieces wiggling around, just angle them and they stay in pretty tight.

Hasbro Transformers Age of Extinction Deluxe Slug

After the fantastic Deluxe Scorn, how does his dinobot wavemate stands next to him? Kinda... meh? Based off the G1 dinobot, Slug aka Slag aka Snarl is a triceratops though he looks kinda skeletal especially with the spines on the tail. He's mostly made of purple plastic with some grey painted with red, dark grey and some silver. A very cool colour scheme for sure.

He's not a bad toy to be honest, his alt mode is fantastic. It looks very cool with tons of spikes coming out from the face and a very nice looking frill. Articulation on the dino mode has jaw swivel, shoulder ball joints, swivel elbow and back leg toes swivels. It's a bit weird that to complete the transformation the back legs have to peg into the back and thus taking away the articulation from the hips.

He comes with 2 short swords and it looks so GOOFY stored on the dinomode! Just look at it!

Bot mode is where he's a tad lacking. The proportions is awkward with popeye arms, huge boots and tiny torso with a tiny head. The shoulder pauldrons are also the dino head split in half, which is pretty cool. Again, same with Scorn, his head is based on the knight's helmet though i have no idea what this kind of particular helmet is called.

He looks cool dual wielding his short swords at least. Articulations are pretty standard, but because of how  his dino legs peg to torso, he can't lower his arms by his side.

Nice looking head sculpt.

After fiddling around with him, i prefer to keep him in dino mode because of how good he looks. Not as fun as Scorn, he might not satisfy you dinobot needs. Overall it's above average.
