Neca Series 14 Alien Vs Predator Scar, Chopper & Celtic

After 3 painful months of waiting, they are finally here! The highly anticipated ( to me anyway ) Neca's brand new Alien Vs Predator line! Something odd happened between the supplier and retailer so this wave got delayed for quite a while in Malaysia, i was actually about to give up hope and had them imported but the stars aligned and now i finally have my hands on them.
How are they? Well, i hate to gush about every Neca figure i buy but I LOVE THESE GUYS!!!

Neca Heroes of Storm Illidan

It's been awhile since my last Neca figure...There's actually a reason behind that, Malaysia doesn't really have a reliable Neca distributor so we've really slow on the release (some are even skipped entirely, namely the Bioshock releases). Being a Neca fan here is suffering for someone who's too poor to afford western imports ( i'm still waiting for the AVP releases to hit Malaysia ).
So when i saw a single Illidan in a video shop of all places, i snapped him without thinking twice.
There's no way i'm passing up on such a cool looking figure, so i give you Illidan, the Betrayer!

Neca 12" Godzilla 1954

Neca is knocking it out of the park with the Godzilla releases. Each releases gets better and better until we've finally reached the earliest version of Big G, the 1954 Godzilla!

Neca Devil May Cry Dante

As fans of action and horror video games, there are very few people who've never heard of the Devil May Cry series. Dante, the main character of the series, is one of the most iconic characters of video games and i, myself is a fan of the first game. Neca teased us with a prototype 7 years back of a Dante figure but unfortunately it never saw release. Between those 7 years there were only a handful of Dante figures ever made, most of them in weird scale, the oddly proportioned Revoltech, the big ugly Play Arts and some trading figures. None of them appealed to me... so i kept hoping Neca would finally release a decent Dante. Somehow the planets aligned and Neca finally released Dante for development hell!

Neca Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Luca

There's always a lack of articulated animal figures in this hobby. But thanks to Neca, we finally have articulated simians at long last! Sure, they're not really generic simians, but with the exception of Koba and Caesar, the Planet of the Apes Luca and Maurice are just typical simians. And who can say no to an articulated gorilla? This guy can't, so here it is!

Neca 12" Godzilla 1985

Third time's the charm as they say. Neca has blown me away with their Godzilla releases from Godzilla 2014 to Godzilla 1994, but their latest Godzilla may be the very best one! His release was actually delayed to Malaysia, and i thought i'll have to import him but thank god he finally came. Was it wait worth it? YES YES and YES!

Neca Pacific Rim Wave 4 Hong Kong Brawl Gypsy Danger

Since buying Knifehead 2.0, i was anticipating Neca's new Gypsy Danger with bated breath. Now i finally have her in hand, i'm... kinda dissapointed...

Neca Pacific Rim Knifehead 2.0

Finally gotten my grubby little hands on a Pacific Rim kaiju! Intially i held out on buying the previous offerings because i thought the kaijus aren't worth the price, but with the new Hong Kong Brawl Gypsy Danger coming out, i needed a opponent to display with Gypsy. Well, i stand corrected, i really really like Knifehead 2.0!

Neca SDCC 2014 Exclusive Ahab Predator

When Neca announced their SDCC exclusive this year, the Ahab Predator from Dark Horse's Predator: Fire and Stone comic, i cursed the heavens. I really really liked the design but unfortunately being born outside of the US, i would have to pay ridiculous money to buy Ahab Predator. So a few months passed, i've given up hope of owning one, that is until my friend managed to find one being sold on a chinese website for a very reasonable price. I didn't give any second thoughts and paid instantly. Now that i have him in hand, how does he stack up?

Neca Bad Blood Predator

I told myself i wouldn't buy another Neca Predator until they utilized the upgraded articulations (which is probably next year), but when i saw this badass looking guy on the shelf, i couldn't resist... So here it is, the honourless, genocidal Bad Blood Predator!

Neca 12" Godzilla 1994

If you read my previous review of Neca's 2014 Godzilla, you'll know i really liked the figure. But Neca's latest release blows 2014 Godzilla out of the water. Introducing, Neca's 1994 Godzilla!

This Godzilla is based on his 1994 movie appearance in Godzilla vs Space Godzilla. It's beautifully sculpted with sharp textures all over. Seriously, the sculpt just looks so good. His fins are made from really soft plastic though, would have prefer it a bit harder, but that's just my nitpicky preference.

But articulation is where he shines above 2014 Godzilla. He's such joy to pose! He has all the articulations from 2014 Godzilla and alittle bit more in his arms. Also because he's skinnier than 2014 Godzilla, the articulations aren't as restricted.

Unfortunately, like most of Neca's release, paint apps on the eyes are off.  The pupils are way too large, it's like he has puppy eyes...

Compared to the Neca's 2014 Godzilla, it's obvious which is the better made figure.

I'm really glad i bought this guy. While Neca's offering might not be as impressive as Bandai's SH Monster Arts line but for quarter the price, Neca's 1994 Godzilla is a steal. I'm really impressed with Neca this time, hopefully they'll continue the great work.

Anyway, thanks for viewing!

EDIT: Turns out what Godzilla needed was the yellow ring around the pupils. So i gave mine a minor paint touch up and he looks way better now.

Neca 12" Godzilla 2014

"OH NO, NOT AGAIN!" was fans' first reaction upon finding out Hollywood was gonna make another Godzilla movie. I can't really say i blame them, Roland Emmerich killed everyone with his 1998 Godzilla, so expectations weren't high. Luckily, the movie was pretty entertaining this time around and Godzilla himself looked AWESOME with his newest incarnation.

This is the biggest Godzilla designed ever! And he certainly looks the part, with a thick torso and legs and wide neck, he's built like a bear! The tiny head amplifies the monstrous look as well. Though i would have preferred his back find to be tad thicker.

He's accentuated with some blue paint on his scales and a brown wash on his belly. This breaks up the monotone black and gives him a subtle depth.

Articulation is really surprising, being built like a truck, you wouldn't have expected Godzilla to have much articulation. But Neca is full of surprises. Godzilla is PACKED full with ball joints, his tail alone features 4! I expected his limbs to be just simple swivels but they're connected to ball joints as well.

With all the joints, he can do his infamous Showa dance!

Scale wise, he blends well with Monsterarts and Revoltechs.

But standing next to the Pacific Rim Neca figures, he's dwarfed severely.

For such a low price, he's a really fantastic addidtion to any kaiju collection. I know Bandai is making their own Godzilla 2014, but it's still awhile to release and the price will be sure turn off some. Till then, i can't recommend Neca's Godzilla enough.
Anyway, thanks for viewing.

Neca Series 11 Battle Armor Lost Predator

The Predator movie franchise is probably one of my favorite sci-fi franchise ever. I remember watching it when i was little, i was so awestruck with cloaking effects and scared with the Predator. Designed by Stan Winston and some input by James Cameroon, the Predator was an interesting, scary yet cool monster. The first film was fantastic, and the following movies weren't too shabby either (except the AVP movies, those 2 can rot in movie hell)., so i was utterly in love with the Predator lore. A race of honorable hunters, collecting trophies across the galaxy, what's not to love? So when Neca announced that they were making Predator figures, i was in 100 %. Now, after 11 waves, Neca decided that the movie designs weren't enough, so they've set their sights on re-inventing old and creating new Predator designs. The results? 3 fantastic kenner Predators and 1 original design. Introducing the Battle Armor Lost Predator!

Designed and sculpted by Jason Frailey and Dave Silva, BALP or Borg, looks fantastic! Sporting unique armor, mask, caster and sheathe,  he stands out among the traditional Predators, looking more like he's a cyborg instead of a hunter alien. According to Jason Frailey, Borg here is a technophile, and instead of hunting organic creatures, he hunts robots. How cool is that??

Details are FANTASTIC!!! The mask features sharp panels and angular shapes, it's such a beauty. We've already seen the armor featured in the previous wave's Borg so that's nothing new. The plasma caster is another whole new sculpt, bigger and bulkier than the more traditional Predators', it looks like it could rip a hole in a Terminator. The sword sheathe is sculpted on the robotic spine of the armor.

He comes with 2 accessory, a shuriken...

And the sword. Just look at this thing. It's painted red which seems to imply it's superheated, probably to cut through the robot he hunts. It's cast in hard plastic, so the sword wouldn't deform or bend.

His plasma caster has 2 balljoints, allowing it alot of range and movement.

Articulations are the same as the previous Lost Predators, which is to say... medicore. Not as articulated as a Marvel Legends, Borg has difficulty achieving more dynamic poses. It has sufficient articulations, but i find myself missing an ab crunch... Let's hope Neca fixes that in the future waves.

Here's a comparison shot with the previous unarmored Borg. You can tell in hand that old Borg has a more realistic paint scheme and weathering. By the way, i swapped their hands so new Borg has an open palm. Originally, he was 2 holding hands, which i find unnecessary.

Series 10 and 11 maybe my favorite Predator wave Neca has made, here's hoping they will continue to wow in the future.
Anyway, thanks for viewing!

Neca Pacific Rim Wave 3 Coyote Tango

As you could probably tell, i have really liked the movie Pacific Rim and i LOVE Neca's release of my fave jaegar, Cherno Alpha. So let's now take a look at Cherno Alpha's wavemate, Coyote Tango. Does he hold a candle to the fantastic Cherno Alpha? Well... yes and no.

Coyote Tango , according to the movie, was a mark 1 jaegar which means it's one of the oldest jaegar made. Piloted by Stacker Pentecost played by the charismatic Idris Elba, Coyote Tango appeared for about 5 minutes in the movie. So there's not much to know about the jaegar except it gave Stacker cancer due to the radioactive generator! Anyway, this figure... what can i say except it's beautiful!

Details are sharp and plenty, paintwork is much better than Cherno Alpha's and the proportion is beautiful. So what's the problem with the figure? Articulation.

Neca has made Coyote Tango with so much articulation, but none of them serve much purpose. And you can't blame Neca for this because due to how he's designed, Coyote Tango ranged of motion is severely limited. The head can barely move, shoulders and hips can only swivel forward, elbows can't move more than 45ยบ at most, same deal with knees and the ankle joint barely works. Although arm swivels, wrist swivels and thigh swivels work fine. The best part though, are the giant cannons on the back, they swivels all the way to the front!

Look at all those lovely details

This is the most dynamic pose i could get him to stand in without the use of a stand.

Because of the limited ankle range, Coyote Tango will very often take a tumble from the shelf. But as flawed as he is, i can't help but to be impressed when i look at him. All in all, if you wanna get him, be aware of what you're in for, otherwise, he's passable.
Anyway, thanks for viewing!
